The child within refers to that part of each of us which is ultimately alive, creative and fulfilled, it is our Real Self (charles l. whitfield "healing the child within)
Samantha was getting ready for work when she started her morning ritual of wondering what other people would think about how she looked or acted. It happened every day, she always worried about what other people would think. about her. Samantha is not alone according to research we began to worry about what other people think around 5 or 6 years old and those other people were our parents or our siblings. Their reactions to us whether good or bad forced us into creating a false self.
Denial of our true self is especially common among children and adults who grew in troubled families, but my research indicates even when the households were not troubled, children reacted to the host of demands placed on them by busy parents, and thus the false self emerged.
